Irish Animation Awards

This is a really late post. But I think it’s important to mark this moment in the journey and share our joy.

Nikhil & Jay was nominated in three categories at the Irish Animation Awards 2025., which is amazing. We were nominated with wonderful shows made by friends.

• Best Preschool Series

• Best Script for an Animated Series – Chitra Soundar & Becky Overton

• Best Direction for an Animated Series! – Jamie Teehan and Nandita Jain.

Chitra Soundar, our founder along with Becky Overton, the head-writer on Nikhil &. Jay were nominated for the Best Script for an Animated Series and this was epic! At least for Chitra.

Mango Madness, the script that was nominated was the pilot script. It was the script that was written to submit along with our formal pitch to the BBC and it was the first story that we rewrote after we got commissioned. Becky helped Chitra to add lots of wonderful action and comedy into the scenes and most importantly the key emotion – Some things are worth the wait!

An important lesson for everyone, regardless of their age. And here’s a little taster here on Youtube.

It was a whole trip down to Galway for the awards and it was a completely unexpected win. We were after all competing with the best shows. When the award for The Best Script was announced, our table roared in joy and it took Chitra by surprise – watch this clip! We’re not joking!

It was Chitra’s first win for TV and what a moment it was for the entire team. We didn’t return empty handed from Galway for sure! And what a gorgeous trophy! It now sits on my bookshelf, reminding me of that moment every day!

Let’s hope this is the first of many more honours to come for Nikhil & Jay.
